# Register and manage warranties for auto styling work

> Create warranty profiles, register warranties to completed jobs, process claims, and give customers a shareable certificate link — no login required.

ShopWrk's warranty system lets you back your work with documented warranties — and manage them without paperwork. You create profiles that define your warranty terms, register those warranties to completed jobs, and process any claims that come in afterward. Customers can view their warranty certificate through a public link without needing a ShopWrk account.

Open **Warranties** from the sidebar to manage all your warranty activity.

## Warranty profiles

A warranty profile defines the terms of a warranty you offer — the coverage period, what's included, and any conditions the customer must meet. Think of it as a template: you create the profile once and register it against individual jobs.

Common profiles for auto styling shops include:

* PPF lifetime warranty (installer defects, delamination, discoloration)
* Window tint manufacturer warranty (bubbling, peeling, color shift)
* Ceramic coating limited warranty (by years and product tier)
* Vinyl wrap warranty (installation defects, premature lifting)

### Creating a warranty profile

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open warranty settings">
    Go to **Settings → Warranties** from the sidebar.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add a new profile">
    Click **New Profile** and fill in the profile name, coverage duration, and the terms of the warranty.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    The profile is now available to register against any job.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Keep profile names short and specific — for example, "PPF Lifetime" or "Ceramic 5-Year" — so they're easy to find when registering a warranty on a completed job.
</Tip>

## Registering a warranty

Once a job is complete and the relevant service has been performed, you can register a warranty against it.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Find the warranty on the Warranties page">
    Open **Warranties** from the sidebar. Jobs that are eligible for warranty registration appear in the list.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the registration">
    Click a job to open its warranty detail. Select the appropriate warranty profile for the service performed.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm the details">
    Review the coverage start date (typically the job completion date), the vehicle, and the customer. Make any corrections before saving.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Register">
    Click **Register Warranty**. ShopWrk records the registration and generates a warranty certificate.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  A warranty registration is tied to both the job and the vehicle. If the customer sells their car, the warranty is specific to that vehicle and the original job.
</Note>

## Warranty certificates

After registration, ShopWrk generates a warranty certificate that summarizes the coverage. The customer can access their certificate through a secure public link — no login required.

To share the certificate with a customer, open the warranty registration and copy the certificate link. Send it via SMS or email. The customer's certificate page shows:

* The warranty profile name and terms
* Coverage start date and expiration
* Vehicle details
* Service performed
* Your shop's contact information

## Processing warranty claims

When a customer contacts you about a potential warranty issue, you can log and track it as a claim.

    Find the customer's registered warranty from the Warranties page or through their contact profile.
  </Step>

    Click **New Claim** on the warranty detail. Describe the issue reported by the customer and attach any photos if available.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review coverage">
    Check whether the reported issue falls within the warranty terms. Use the profile's coverage definition as your reference.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Update the claim status">
    Mark the claim as **Approved**, **Rejected**, or **In Progress** as you work through it. Add notes to keep a clear record of what was decided and why.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Schedule remediation if approved">
    If the claim is approved, schedule the corrective work as a new job. Link it back to the original warranty so the history stays connected.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  Rejected claims should include a note explaining why the issue falls outside the warranty terms. This protects your shop and gives the customer a clear explanation.
</Warning>

## Automating warranty reminders

You can use ShopWrk Automations to notify customers when a warranty registration deadline is approaching or when an annual inspection is due. Go to **Automations → New Automation** and choose the **Warranty Registration Due** or **Warranty Inspection Due** triggers.

See [Automations](/features/automations) for details on building automated warranty workflows.
