SMS setup
First-time setup wizard
The first time you visit Settings → Messaging, ShopWrk launches a setup wizard that walks you through:- Registering your brand and campaign with The Campaign Registry (required for A2P 10DLC).
- Provisioning a phone number.
- Configuring your messaging defaults.
A2P 10DLC registration
A2P 10DLC (Application-to-Person 10-Digit Long Code) is the US carrier framework that allows businesses to send SMS at scale without messages being treated as spam. Registration is mandatory for any business sending automated or bulk SMS in the United States. ShopWrk handles the registration flow inside the setup wizard. You’ll provide:- Business information — legal name, address, EIN, website, and contact details.
- Owner information — name, email, and phone of the account owner.
- Campaign description — a brief explanation of how you’ll use SMS (appointment reminders, follow-ups, promotions).
Registration statuses are Brand and Campaign. Both must show Approved before you can send outbound SMS through ShopWrk. You can still receive inbound SMS while approval is pending.
Provisioning your phone number
After A2P registration is approved, you can provision a Telnyx phone number directly from Settings → Messaging. Choose a local area code that matches your shop’s market for the best response rates. If you have an existing business number you want to keep, contact ShopWrk support to discuss porting it in.Compliance and trust center
Settings → Messaging includes a Compliance & Trust panel where you can monitor:- Brand registration status
- Campaign approval status
- Monthly SMS usage (inbound and outbound counts, estimated cost)
- Opt-out compliance status
SMS opt-out compliance
ShopWrk automatically handles STOP, HELP, and UNSTOP keywords per TCPA requirements. When a customer replies STOP, they’re added to your opt-out list and will not receive further messages from your number. Attempting to send to an opted-out number is blocked at the platform level. You can view and manage the opt-out list from the Compliance & Trust panel.Messaging configuration
Once your number is provisioned and A2P registration is approved, Settings → Messaging gives you access to:- Message templates — saved message templates for common scenarios (appointment confirmations, invoice reminders, review requests).
- Auto-replies — optional automatic responses for after-hours or missed messages.
- Opt-out list — view and manage customers who have opted out of SMS.
Bulk messaging campaigns
Use bulk messaging to reach multiple customers at once — for promotions, seasonal offers, or service reminders.Build your audience
Filter your customer list by criteria such as service type, last visit date, or vehicle type to target the right customers.
Write your message
Use a saved template or write a custom message. Keep it concise — carrier filtering increases for messages over 160 characters.
Voice calling setup
Voice calling is configured separately at Settings → Calling. The settings are organized into tabs:- General
- Forwarding
- Queue
- Ring priority
- Scripts
- Voicemail
- Analytics
Assign which provisioned phone number handles inbound calls. Configure your business hours and what happens to calls received outside those hours.
Voicemail and call recording
Voicemail recordings are stored and accessible from the Calls section of ShopWrk. Call recordings are retained for 60 days and then automatically deleted.Call recording laws vary by state. Some states require you to inform all parties that a call is being recorded before the recording begins. Consult your local regulations before enabling call recording.
WebRTC calling
ShopWrk supports in-browser calling using WebRTC, so team members can make and receive calls directly from the ShopWrk dashboard without a physical phone.Related
